How to Build a Smart Fundraising Form

A great fundraising form does more than collect donations — it tells your story, builds trust, and motivates action. Here's how to set one up well.

Step 1: Go to your dashboard

Log in, click Manage in the left-hand menu, and select Fundraisers, then Create New Fundraiser (or Edit on an existing one).

Step 2: Write a strong title and description

Keep your title short and action-oriented — something like "Join Team Alexis — Founding Donors Wanted!" Your description should explain what the fundraiser is for, how funds will be used, and create urgency where appropriate. Use "you" language to make it donor-focused.

Step 3: Add your cover image

Recommended size is 1920 x 1080 pixels. Leave space around the edges — avoid placing text or faces too close to the borders. Preview on both desktop and mobile before publishing.

Step 4: Set up marketing links

Navigate to the Marketing Links tab and create a custom tracking link for each channel you'll use (email, text, social, events). This lets you see exactly which outreach is driving donations. See Create Tracking Links for Fundraisers and Events for details.

Step 5: Configure compliance and legal settings

Before publishing, go to Settings to make sure your legal disclaimers and contribution rules are in place. See Adding Compliance/Finance Rules for instructions — this step is required for political campaigns.

Bonus tips:

  • Make your goal public when it's time-sensitive or when it is not prohibitive to your strategy — it boosts conversions.
  • Include testimonials or campaign quotes if you have them.
  • Always preview your form before publishing and double-check the mobile view.

When everything looks right, click Publish. Your form goes live immediately. Share your marketing links and you're off.
